VANDALIA TRAIL
The Vandalia Trail is a major trail in Putnam and Hendricks County. The Trail goes up to the Marion County border, but doesn’t cross it - yet. There is a gap between Amo and the western portion of Plainfield in Hendricks County. The goals are to close the gap in Hendricks County and extend the trail east in Marion County to Eagle Creek and join the Eagle Creek Trail. The Vandalia Trail is part of the National Road Heritage Trail that crosses Indiana near where the original National Road once took travelers. In Plainfield, the trail connects with the White Lick Trail, and in Greencastle, the trail links up with the Putnam People Pathway.
