MUSCATATUCK TRAIL

The Muscatatuck Trail is a 1.3-mile trail leading from the downtown area of North Vernon to Muscatatuck Park.  The trail follows the former Pennsylvania Railroad branch line that would have gone from North Vernon to Jeffersonville.  This trail traverses mostly residential areas on the south side of North Vernon and runs parallel to College and Gum Streets.  There are trailheads at Muscatatuck Park and the water tower in North Vernon.  Additionally, the trail is accessible from State Street south of the intersection with Old U.S. 50.

From the trail agency website:

This paved walkway was completed in late 2016  and is a community favorite.  With a mile of paved trail in the heart of our downtown area, it's a great location to get that evening or afternoon run in. Trail starts at the West entrance parking area of the Muscatatuck Park where you will also find a filtered water bottle refilling station.  The trail goes north from there to the North Vernon mini-park or into downtown North Vernon. Parking for trail can be found at Muscatatuck Trail and at the Mini Park.  There is a bench located along path as well if needed.

Watering Station is available at this location for you (water fountain & water bottle refill) and a watering bowl for your pet.
