Trails in Indiana

Union City Trails

Union City

The Union City Gateway trail and the Harte Park trail are less than 2 miles long, but for this little city half of which is located in Indiana and the other half in Ohio is only a first important step. The importance of this step is the fact that with the completion of the 0.72 mile Gateway trail, June 7th, 2008, Union City built the first cross state trail for Indiana. We had to wait five more years to see the second cross state trail built in the North West side of Indiana with the opening of the Pennsy Greenway trail in Munster.

The second step for Union City is to connect the two trails, extending Gateway trail to Harte Park trail. But in the long run the ambitious project is to connect this trail, West with Marion and the Cardinal Greenway, and East, in Ohio, through Bradford, Covington, and Piqua.
