River Trail, River Park – Carmel

County:
Hamilton
City:
Carmel

Descriptions:
The White River Greenway in Carmel connects city parks and city streets in eastern Carmel.

The south trailhead sits at the south end of the long parking lot which lie son the east side of River Road and is a part of River Road Park. This park is across from Plum Creek Golf Course. The White River is parallel and can be seen from the trail. Hiking northward, the trail passes through some woodsy areas where one can see wildlife like herons, woodpeckers, and wildflowers. The trail runs briefly between Prairie View Country Club and a nice subdivision, with some beautiful large homes.
The White River Greenway Trail continues adjacent to scenic White River with many beautiful views.  It then ends at River Road and Tall Timber Run.

The White River Greenway in Carmel is serene with only a light amount of traffic, despite being surrounded by a bustling Carmel. The trail is all asphalt, thus suitable for many uses.

Off the trail, Carmel is known for hosting events such as free summer concerts, Carmelfest over the July Fourth Holidays, and in September the Carmel International Arts Festival. The Civic Square hosts weekly Saturday Farmer’s market in season. In Carmel can also be found an arts and design district with children’s repertory theatres, symphony, children’s art gallery, miniatures museum, and historical society. And, just east of Carmel, in Noblesville, can be found Conner Prairie Living History Park.
